Key Relationships of FIRST Robotics Canada
FIRST Robotics Canada works in cooperation with FIRST, a U.S. charitable organization founded in 1989 with headquarters in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The FIRST competition involves more than 300,000 students and mentors around the world in programs that range from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
FIRST Robotics Canada is independent of FIRST, and there is no formal agreement in place between the two organizations. Although FIRST Robotics Canada is not an affiliate, local chapter or other branch of FIRST, there are important ongoing, voluntary relationships between the two organizations. Teams that win relevant awards at FIRST Robotics Canada events go on to compete in the FIRST Championship/World Festival in St. Louis, Missouri FIRST. Gordon Homer, Chair of FIRST Robotics Canada, is a member of the Board of Directors of FIRST. FIRST Robotics Canada volunteers have from time to time assisted FIRST with issues including game design and computer programming issues.
