One of the most exciting volunteer opportunities in Edmonton has just opened up – participating in Edmonton’s exciting FIRST Lego League Edmonton/Northern Alberta Championship Tournament!

This year’s challenge theme is “Trash Trek”. We’re not talking trash – we’re cleaning it up! Participants will think about ways to make less trash or improve the way we handle the trash we make. From collection, to sorting, to smart production and reuse, there is more to trash than meets the eye.

On Saturday, January 16th, 2016 hundreds of children, ages 10 to 14, will go head to head in a high level competition as they demonstrate what their hi-tech Lego-engineered robots can do.  With hundreds of students and spectators watching the excitement we need a huge slate of volunteers to fill a variety of positions – all working to pull off an amazing experience for your young innovators.

Following are some of the key roles:  Registration / Information / Directions ••• Team T-Shirt Distribution ••• Pit Area Information Desk ••• Practice Tables Supervision ••• Opening Ceremony Que Team Assistance ••• Raffle Tickets Seller ••• Scores Runner ••• Table Competition Queuer ••• Pit Area Queuer ••• Competition Tables Queuer and Exit Assistance ••• Competition Table Resetter ••• Score Keeper ••• Friday Night Setup ••• Saturday Early Evening Teardown ••• Judging / Refereeing ••• And More!

Snacks and lunch are provided for all volunteers, as well as tournament t-shirts. In addition, all volunteers will receive a letter of participation.
